Timberline Accordion Technical Information
Construction Features
1. Panel and Module Structure
|
MDF panels are connected by polymer coextrusion hinges to provide a strong but flexible junction which blocks sound transmission. A Timberline module provides a double skin structure with a sound trap to effectively retard noise. Sweep seals at the top and bottom of panels complete the acoustic barrier. |

|
2. Suspension
|
Ball bearing nylon-tyred trolleys suspend every Timberline module. These run in an extruded aluminium track positioned within a headplate. The headplate provides the contact surface for the top seals to rub against. No floor track is required with Timberline. |

|
3. Draw-tight Latch
|
Timberline doors are easy to close properly. The attractive handles are large enough to grasp firmly and doors are fitted with a special draw-tight latch that helps close the door tightly into the receiving jamb. Without this feature, other accordion doors can remain partly open, compromising the acoustic performance.

Typical Specification
Acoustic accordion door shall be Timberline by Lotus installed by an authorised representative of the manufacturer. (Ph. 03 9786 7788).
Panels shall be MDF construction linked with polymer coextrusion flexible hinges to form an accordion shape. Panels shall be top supported on nylon tyred ball bearing trolleys running in extruded aluminium track. Panels shall be coupled with internal steel hinges and the final closure shall be achieved by a draw-tight latch to ensure acoustic integrity.
Flexible composition sweep seals shall be fitted to the top and bottom of each panel to make continuous contact to the underside of the headplate and to the floor surface respectively, providing a sound retardant closure.
The door shall have a laboratory Rw of _____________. The manufacturer shall guarantee that the accordion doors are like construction to those laboratory tested by an independent NATA approved testing laboratory.
